HELLO THERE!
My name is Katy Sestay, and I am the artist and designer behind Loose Cinch. I currently live and create in Sheridan, Wyoming.
I’m not sure what came first, my love of horses or my love of art. I grew up in the high desert of California on a small horse ranch, spending my days riding and rodeoing. Like many horse-crazy girls, I began attempting to draw these creatures I surrounded myself with and never looked back. This love for the world of the West, and for the animals and people within it, continues to guide my work.
In 2016, I moved to Montana to attend Montana State University, where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts. During that time, I continued to develop my focus, creating artwork and designs rooted in ranching, agriculture, and Western life.
Creativity has never been something I can keep contained. I am a screen printer, photographer, oil painter, logo designer, doodler, and digital artist. The mediums may change, but the goal stays the same: to capture the elusive essence of the West.
Loose Cinch is my way of sharing that lifelong connection and exploration. Every piece I make is rooted in real places, hard work, and lived stories. I am grateful you are here and that my work gets to be part of your space, your wardrobe, your business, or your everyday life.
Why “Loose Cinch”?
I started down my creative path without a plan, hoping one would reveal itself, but it never did. Instead, I grew by diving headfirst into projects and ideas, always eager for the challenge. My creativity thrives somewhere between structure and chaos.
This journey has felt like climbing into the saddle with the cinch left loose, so excited for the ride you forget to pull it tight. Before long, you’re gripping the center, holding on. But a good rider, with a good saddle, can stay balanced even without the cinch.
That’s the heart of my art and my creativity: casting a wide net, chasing things that spark excitement.
It’s about imperfect action—the choice to saddle up, hang on, and give it my best.
Welcome to Loose Cinch!
